Preparing our children for the future

What world are we raising our children in today?

And what will the world of the future look like?

Sometimes when these questions are asked it seems too easy for us to fall into a way of thinking about the future that is dark, pessimistic and full of struggles.   This is unhelpful for our children and ourselves.

As concerned parents we need to inform ourselves about the present and future changes, while remaining ‘realistically optimistic’ about the uncertain future.

So what will this future look like?

We don’t know.    But what we can do is to be prepared for what possible issues our children may need to face in their future.

Here are 5 possible future issues.  Click on each to learn more:

Issue 1.   The world is flat

Issue 2.   The guards are changing

Issue 3.   The job opportunities are shifting

Issue 4.   Our planet is dying

Issue 5.   The world is becoming fearful

How will our children cope?

Many of us hearing about the climate changes issues, economic shifts or terrorist threats have experienced overwhelming emotions of powerlessness, desperation or gloom and doom.

How will our children handle the serious and fear-provoking issues of the future?

Our future lies in the hands of our children. The next generation will be the ones taking over leadership positions in our companies and our countries.
